Season recap
The Razorbacks lost to that highly rated west coast team at the start of the season - were in it for a while and showed some promise, but it was a bad loss at the end.
We started the conference season very shaky, but eventually did really well despite having to shuffle some players. Relying on our stud and our supporting horses, there was a complete domination of Auburn and we put ourselves in good position for the post season. The conference championship performance had too many mistakes for us to overcome, but there was still plenty of reason to believe the season could end on an upswing. But that was not to be, either. Very disappointing to finish that way, given so much had been built up.
My question is - why does a season like this not leave a bad taste for Hog fans with Dave Van Horn?
I think everyone who reads this knows DVH is my favorite coach.
But the similarities of the past season are as similar for both sport's coaches as the promise of their next season.
Both have run off good players.
Both want complete control.
Both are head strong and stubborn.
Both have brought about massive, almost ridiculous improvements in their facility.
Yet one is universally a hero and the other is often called a bum.
Our coaching staff at Baum has put together the most solid looking team from top to bottom that I have seen, and I've seen a bunch of them. I dare say that I can guarantee we've never seen this kind of quality depth on the pitching staff. Of course, we get to start another season with the best college baseball field in construction.
